Granny's Coconut Apple Betty

This one of my Granny's recipes. It's the ultimate comfort food, and is the perfect dessert to have on a crisp autumn day! It's especially lovely with a big dollop of Greek yogurt.
4 tart apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 C of whole wheat breadcrumbs
1 C shredded coconut
1 C light brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
2 T lemon juice
4 Tbsp butter
1/2 C water (or a little more if the dessert looks a bit dry)
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Mix the apples, breadcrumbs, coconut, sugar and cinnamon in a large bowl. Pour the mixture into a Pyrex pie dish. Sprinkle the lemon juice over the top and then dot with butter.
Bake uncovered or 50 minutes. Serve with Greek yogurt or cream.
